"Our culture has survived over 50,000 years by passing down our way of life, our languages, our connections to the community, and the country."
"We welcome the opportunity to share our culture with visitors."
"But its not easy. Protecting and nurturing our culture and knowledge in the modern world remains a big challenge for us."
"This is why we, with the Anangu Communities Foundation, need you."
"With your help, we can continue to build upon the strength, knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurship of the Anangu. We can provide the funding necessary for new initiatives that build a positive future for all Anangu."
"With your donation, you can help the world's oldest continuous living culture, thrive."
The homelands
We recognise and acknowledge that Anangu are the traditional custodians of the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yunkunytjatjara (NPY) region of Australia and are one of the oldest living cultures in the world. Anangu have an ongoing, deep connection to Tjukurpa, land, language, family, and community.
The Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Lands, span the central desert region of South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. The NPY lands cover 350,000 square kilometres and encompass 26 remote communities and homelands. The region has an overall population of around 6,000 Anangu, more than half of whom are aged 24 years or under. The remote, tri-state environment of the NPY Lands, with vast geographical distances between communities creates a unique set of challenges, complexities and opportunities.
